Finally, why does a girl literally called America Singer not sing at all during these books? I’m pretty sure way back in the first book she’s described as having a beautiful singing voice but nowhere in the story does she have a big moment to shine (maybe I made up the singing part? If I didn’t where was the scene?)Įven though this book dropped a star I’m still addicted to this series and I still recommend reading it! I believe the next book focuses on America and Maxon’s children so I’m excited to see where that story goes. The Selection changed America Singer's life in ways she never could have imagined. Maybe I’m missing something, but they really started to get on my nerves. Second negative, what is with the rebels, the northern ones I get, they are fitted into the storyline, however, what I can’t understand is the need for the southern rebels. It just didn’t do it for me and just didn’t seem to fit the overall tone. If I’m going into a dark dystopian read, I don’t mind in the slightest, but this series went from an easy to relax to chick-lit to a death filled book.

I won’t lie when I say I cried when America read her dads letter, it was so sad! Again, Cass no need for that death either! Even though America got to go home in this book it wasn’t the family scene I had hoped for, they felt a little disconnecting and lacking.Īlthough the last two books I rated four stars this one I had to drop one because for me in took too dark of a turn. The King’s death I’m not too bothered about, but The Queens was not needed *sobs in a corner*. Well, that was not how I imagined their storyline ending. Why Cass why? When she was alive, I loved the support she gave the others, we all need a Celeste in our lives. Ok, talk about a complete roundabout there with these two, I went from detesting Celeste to her being one of my favourite characters and then well she died. I just wish we had seen more of this friendship. Unfortunately, we don’t really get to see a lot of these two in this book until the wedding right at the end (cute reference to the first book there too). The little wedding description at the end was so cute, and I’m very happy with this paring! YESSSS!!! I’m so pleased these two ended up together, I did feel the ‘big fallout’ at the end was a little bit overly dramatized but then again that perfectly sums up these books. Him and Lucy I think will make a cute pair though. Aspen did half redeem himself, but I can’t lie I still don’t take to him. Thank goodness they didn’t end up together. I’m still in shock and I can’t really decide if I liked it or not.

Ok, that might have been a tad exaggerated but did so many people (including some very good characters) have to die? Don’t get me wrong the wedding scene was very cute and nice but I think it was completely overshadowed by the previous chapter. I cannot explain how utterly devastated I was with this ending.

First of all, I’m sorry for this review containing spoilers, I do try to do spoiler free reviews, but I could not see a way round reviewing this book without talking about some of the major events.
